Plugin allow upload thumbal imnage allowed formats: jpg, png, or also plugin allow "grab" images form some pages who has images as inline, and is not protected in eg. javascript.
When page has images as eg. in style only then plugin can not found it.
Grab image may not working on some pages, then you can upload thumb image form your device.
From plugin version 16.6.500 you can use external API for display thumb (when url has not image).
To working external APIs we have no influence.
